TV Fasting
Matt and I decided this weekend that we where going to do a TV fast this week. We don’t have any specific guidelines… But there is one exception, KU Basketball. The Jayhawks are now in the Final Four so we already know there will be at least one evening of viewing this week. Imagine how much we might accomplish by not mindlessly starring at the blinking box all night. As much as we might like to sink into the couch at the end of a long day we will find something else to occupy our time. We both have things we enjoy doing in our free time, we just don’t make our time free for them. Collaborative creativity, communication, organization and hopefully earlier bedtimes are my goal.
So, is this just about Matt and I or will we be imposing our fast onto Oz? TV, I’m ashamed to admit, keeps thing sane and quiet around here in emergencies and, most of the time, is used as a tool. It’s sometimes the source of some much needed down time at the end of a busy day “at work” (aka 3 Little Birds). But we all do that, right? Sometimes it keeps him company over breakfast while I am getting the girls up and going. And sometimes, being honest here, mommy and daddy just need a break! The idea of taking that arsenal out of my toolbox is a little scary. But I will give it a try.
Night 1.
Kids in bed by 7… And asleep! It was a long day. The KU game was over and already watched. I started a project yesterday creating a wall hung desk organizer. Tonight I finished it! I did not get it hung yet, or the desk organized. But that’s what I’ll work on tomorrow night. And still time for a bath, some tidying around the kitchen, and reading in bed! Night one success.
